On Democratic Decision-making and My Journalism Dream
As you
may know, I am often criticised as a democracy opposer. By no definition I support
aristocracy or authoritarianism. I seem like one because, in the short run,
they’re the responsible decision-maker.
I always
believe, that like Fukuyama said, that Western democracy is the final form of
human society. Because mankind can enjoy her utmost freedom under such a
democratic state.
Such democratic
state should be a state with one-man-one-vote regime, the leader should be meritocratic,
sound and transparent; It’s citizen should enjoy full freedom including criticise
its leadership, but not simply mock as a emotional rant.
What I
see as an effective democracy, is that everyone can have empathy upon another,
have boarder understanding to entire society. With an informed and educated
electorate, they might distinguish what is good for them and what is bad, especially
during the long run. For what’s it worth, they should also criticise every
decision constructively, and treasure sound decision with care and respect, for
such an extraordinary regime is hard to maintain.
She
shall worship the rule of law, for every citizen under law should be hold
equal; She shall worship the freedom of speech, for Jeremiah can born anywhere
in the world; She shall worship the freedom of publish, for Murrow can impact a
generation gone stray; She shall worship the freedom of the pursue of
happiness, for mankind are born to govern the land.
With an informed
and educated electorate, I believe such a society can be descended upon us. That
brings another topic of mine, my dream in journalism.
What is
journalism? Journalism in it’s nature should be endless pursue in story, without
bias and shew, and to spread the news as soon and as wide as possible.
Journalism
shouldn’t be a mere satisfaction to the eager of it’s targets’ taste, but it
should be held with social responsibility, with is deliver information with
most importance in democratic decision-making progress, and to present best
argument in best way possible.
Journalism
should be an industry of moral, it should be an industry of dedicated care to
democracy itself. Journalism should be a sublime dedication, a vocation of
life.
Journalism
is the cornerstone of democracy, and only that and honour that, our society can
be truly democratic.
